Armadillo repeat-containing X-linked protein 2 (ARMCX2) is a member of the armadillo repeat-containing (ARMCX) protein subfamily, found clustered on the X chromosome and characterized by multiple tandem armadillo (ARM) repeats and a potential N-terminal transmembrane domain[4][5]. Proteins in this family are predominantly targeted to mitochondria, where they regulate mitochondrial dynamics, distribution, and trafficking in neural cells, which is essential for normal neuronal energy supply and function[5]. ARMCX2, along with ARMCX1-6, participates in biological processes such as protein-protein interactions, cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, DNA replication and repair, and possibly nuclear transport[3]. Expression of ARMCX2 has been linked to disease prognosis, especially in cancer, and possibly in certain allergic and neurological disorders, but it is not established as a conventional therapeutic target (e.g., receptor, enzyme, transporter)[3][4][5].
