Overview

Armadillo repeat-containing X-linked protein 5 (ARMCX5) is a human protein encoded on the X chromosome at region Xq22.1, belonging to the ARMCX family, which contains central armadillo repeat domains that facilitate protein-protein and potentially membrane interactions[1][3]. The ARMCX family proteins may be involved in cellular scaffolding, mitochondrial membrane localization, and ubiquitin ligase complex-related processes, though specific functions of ARMCX5 are largely unknown. ARMCX5 has been observed to have differential expression in human tissues and potentially in some cancers, but functional studies and clinical associations are scarce[3]. There is currently no evidence for a role as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or therapeutic target, and no drugs are known to interact with it. Its primary research relevance is as a scaffold protein and a putative member of cellular signaling pathways[1][3].
