ARPC1A pseudogene 1 (ARPC1AP1) is a non-protein-coding pseudogene related to the functional ARPC1A gene. The canonical ARPC1A gene encodes a subunit of the human Arp2/3 protein complex, which is essential for regulation of actin polymerization and involved in cell movement, shape, and division. However, as a pseudogene, ARPC1AP1 does not produce a functional protein and does not directly participate in these cellular processes. Pseudogenes like ARPC1AP1 are generally considered non-functional remnants of formerly active genes that have lost their protein-coding ability due to mutations. There is no evidence that ARPC1AP1 serves as a therapeutic target or is involved in drug interactions, disease roles, or biological functions currently attributed to the functional ARPC1A gene[1][7].
