Overview

ARRDC1 antisense RNA 1 (ARRDC1-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the antisense strand of the ARRDC1 gene locus on chromosome 9. It does not encode a protein but is classified as an antisense RNA, playing potential regulatory roles in gene expression at the transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels. ARRDC1-AS1 has been shown to be upregulated in glioma tissues and cell lines, where it promotes tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Its oncogenic function in glioma is mediated by acting as a molecular sponge for miR-432-5p, resulting in upregulation of PRMT5, and its expression is activated by STAT1. There is currently limited functional and clinical information outside of cancer, and no approved drugs target this lncRNA directly.
