Overview

Aryl hydrocarbon receptor nuclear translocator 2 is a transcription factor that functions as a molecular partner for sensor proteins from the bHLH-PAS superfamily, forming heterodimers that regulate diverse developmental, environmental, and metabolic responses. ARNT2 is primarily expressed in neural tissues but also shows expression in other organs. It plays key roles in responses to hypoxia (with HIF1α), xenobiotic metabolism (with AhR), and neurogenesis. ARNT2's activity is crucial for gene regulation during development and environmental stress, and its dysregulation has been linked to neoplastic and neurodevelopmental diseases
