Arylacetamide deacetylase pseudogene 1 (AADACP1) is a non-coding genetic element derived from the arylacetamide deacetylase gene (AADAC)[5]. Unlike its protein-coding parent gene, which encodes an enzyme involved in drug and lipid metabolism, the pseudogene does not produce a functional protein and is not involved in therapeutic targeting. Pseudogenes like AADACP1 arise from duplication or retrotransposition events and typically retain sequence similarity to their parent genes but are transcriptionally inactive, lacking the ability to catalyze biochemical reactions or participate in signaling pathways.
