Overview
AS03 is an oil-in-water emulsion adjuvant system used to enhance the immune response to vaccines. It is composed of squalene, α-tocopherol (vitamin E), and polysorbate 80. AS03 activates the innate immune system, stimulates cytokine and chemokine production, and induces epigenetic changes in innate immune cells, resulting in enhanced antibody and T-cell responses. It is used in pandemic influenza vaccines and experimental vaccines for SARS-CoV-2.
