Overview
ASB6 antisense RNA 1 (ASB6-AS1) is a long non-coding antisense RNA gene located at the ASB6 locus. lncRNAs such as ASB6-AS1 regulate gene expression by hybridizing to their sense transcripts, influencing transcription, translation, and epigenetics through mechanisms such as DNA methylation and histone modification[1][5][6]. While many antisense RNAs modulate biological processes including cell differentiation and imprinting, there is currently no evidence that ASB6-AS1 is a direct therapeutic target, a disease biomarker, or is involved in a specific disease process. Its characterization as a regulatory RNA is supported by gene database entries and general lncRNA/antisense RNA literature, but detailed biological functions or disease roles for ASB6-AS1 specifically have not been reported. It is important to distinguish ASB6-AS1 (non-coding RNA gene) from ASB6 (protein coding, Ankyrin Repeat And SOCS Box Containing 6), which has roles in cancer and insulin signaling modulation[3][7].
