Target intelligence / Profile preview
ASGR1 encodes the major subunit of the asialoglycoprotein receptor, a transmembrane protein primarily expressed on hepatocytes. It mediates the endocytosis and lysosomal degradation of desialylated glycoproteins, playing a crucial role in serum glycoprotein homeostasis and LDL receptor regulation. It is involved in both viral infection and targeted drug delivery to the liver. Recent research shows that ASGR1 can interact with LASS2 to inhibit V‑ATPase activity, thereby suppressing metastatic potential in hepatoma cells.
