Overview

Asparaginyl-tRNA synthetase 1 pseudogene 2 (NARS1P2) is a human pseudogene related to the asparaginyl-tRNA synthetase family but does not produce a functional protein[2]. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences similar to functional genes but are generally non-functional due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements, and they do not encode active proteins. While the parent gene, asparaginyl-tRNA synthetase, is an enzyme involved in attaching asparagine to its corresponding tRNA during protein synthesis[1][4][7], NARS1P2 itself does not participate in these or any known biological or disease roles.\nPseudogenes such as NARS1P2 may have regulatory roles in gene expression by acting as decoys for regulatory RNAs or competing for RNA-binding proteins, but there is no direct experimental evidence for NARS1P2 in these functions[5]. NARS1P2 is not considered a therapeutic target, marker, or a molecule with safety concerns. Its listing as a target is incorrect: it is not a protein-coding gene, enzyme, receptor, transporter, or any classical therapeutic target.
