ASTN2 antisense RNA 1 (ASTN2-AS1) is a long non-coding antisense RNA gene that is transcribed on the opposite strand of the protein-coding gene ASTN2. Its main postulated function is the regulation of the expression of ASTN2, likely through modulation of its mRNA stability, processing, or translation. Like other antisense RNAs, ASTN2-AS1 may play a role in fine-tuning gene expression but does not encode a protein or function as a classical drug target such as a receptor or enzyme.
