ARID3C, or AT-rich interaction domain-containing protein 3C, is a member of the ARID family of transcription factors that contains a helix-turn-helix motif-based DNA-binding ARID domain[2]. It is expressed at low levels in various tissues and functions in the nucleus, where it acts as a transcription factor that regulates the expression of genes involved in monocyte-to-macrophage differentiation, specifically STAT3, STAT1, and JUNB[1][2]. ARID3C forms a complex with NPM1 to translocate to the nucleus, and its loss of nuclear localization disrupts its transcriptional activity and cellular differentiation role[1]. Unlike related ARID3 family members (such as ARID3A and ARID3B), ARID3C has not been directly implicated in common diseases or cancers and is not currently known as a drug target[1][2].
