Overview

ATMIN pseudogene 1 (ATMINP1) is a **pseudogene** derived from the ATM interactor (ATMIN) gene. Pseudogenes are segments of DNA that closely resemble functional genes but have acquired disabling mutations preventing them from encoding a functional protein[7][1][9]. ATMINP1 does not appear to have any protein-coding capability or established biological function and is not considered a molecular target for therapeutic intervention. Its parental gene, ATMIN, acts as an essential ATM kinase cofactor involved in DNA damage response and tumor suppression, but ATMINP1 itself does not play a known role in these pathways[2][1][7]. Pseudogenes like ATMINP1 might sometimes participate in gene regulation through noncoding RNA mechanisms in other contexts, although there is no experimental evidence for this function in ATMINP1 specifically[3][9][5].

Mechanism of action

none (pseudogenes are not targeted for pharmacological action; however, some pseudogenes in general can affect gene regulation but no evidence for this for ATMINP1)

03

Biological functions

Most pseudogenes, including ATMINP1, lack a protein-coding functionSome pseudogenes may have regulatory RNA roles, such as acting as microRNA decoys or modulators of gene expression, but there is no direct evidence for a functional role specific to ATMINP1 in current literature
04

Disease associations

None established for ATMINP1 itself. The parental gene, ATMIN, is involved in genomic stability and tumor suppression, but ATMINP1, as a pseudogene, has no verified disease role
05

Safety considerations

none (no clinical use or known pathogenicity)
06

Interacting drugs

none (pseudogenes do not interact directly with drugs)
07

Biomarkers

none (not used for patient selection or efficacy monitoring)
