ATP-binding cassette, sub-family G, member 2 pseudogene (ENSG00000229172) is a DNA sequence in the human genome that closely resembles the functional ABCG2 gene but lacks protein-coding capacity. Pseudogenes typically arise through gene duplication or retrotransposition; although most are transcriptionally silent, some can produce RNA molecules and occasionally modulate the expression of related genes through regulatory interactions. ABC transporter pseudogenes are distributed unevenly in the genome, and a subset may be transcriptionally active, possibly influencing expression of their parental transporter genes through RNA interference or other mechanisms. However, this pseudogene does not encode a functional transporter and is not involved in drug transport, disease, or therapeutic intervention[1][2][3].
