Overview

ATP-binding cassette subfamily A member 10 (ABCA10) is a membrane-associated protein and member of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily, specifically within the ABC1 subfamily, and is expressed in several tissues, notably the heart, brain, and gastrointestinal tract, with important roles in macrophage lipid transport and homeostasis[1][2][3][4][5][6]. It is implicated in the regulation of intracellular lipid movement, ATPase-coupled transport across membranes, and may influence immune cell infiltration and tumor microenvironment in cancers[1][2][3][4][6]. While its physiological substrates and detailed molecular function are not fully defined, ABCA10 downregulation is associated with advanced cancer stages and poor prognosis, and genetic variants may contribute to disease risk in conditions such as breast cancer and autism spectrum disorder[2][3][6]. There are currently no known drugs that directly target ABCA10, but its modulation holds potential for prognostic and therapeutic strategies in oncology and metabolic diseases[3][6].
