ATP synthase membrane subunit c locus 1 pseudogene 1 (ATP5MC1P1) is a member of the ATP synthase subunit c pseudogene family, related in sequence to functional ATP synthase subunit c genes (such as ATP5MC1, ATP5MC2, and ATP5MC3), which encode the c subunit of the mitochondrial F₀-ATP synthase proton channel[2][3]. ATP5MC1P1 is classified as a pseudogene, meaning it is a genomic DNA sequence similar to a functional gene but nonfunctional due to mutations or lack of necessary regulatory elements. As a result, ATP5MC1P1 does not produce a functional protein, has no established biological function, is not involved in disease mechanisms, is not a therapeutic target, and has no pharmacological relevance.
