ATP13A4 antisense RNA 1 (ATP13A4-AS1) is a predicted long non-coding RNA gene transcribed antisense to the ATP13A4 locus. Like other antisense lncRNAs, it may play a regulatory role in the expression of its sense counterpart, ATP13A4, but there is currently no published experimental evidence detailing its biological function, physiological role, or involvement in human disease[7]. No established pharmacological agents or biomarkers are associated with ATP13A4-AS1, and it is not currently recognized as a druggable or therapeutic target. Its molecular relationship, if any, to disease processes remains undetermined. Note: The nearby sense gene, ATP13A4, encodes a P5-type ATPase cation transporter implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders and schizophrenia, but this is distinct from the antisense RNA transcript itself[1][4].
