ATP1A1 antisense RNA 1 (ATP1A1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the antisense strand of the ATP1A1 gene. It is implicated in the regulation of vascular smooth muscle cell phenotype and apoptosis, especially in the context of intracranial aneurysms, where it is upregulated and promotes disease progression. ATP1A1-AS1 also functions as a competitive endogenous RNA, interacting with microRNAs and indirectly modulating target gene expression involved in cancer and other diseases.
