Currently, little is known about its specific biological function, role in disease, or utility as a biomarker, and it is not considered a therapeutic target in drug discovery or clinical development contexts. It is not a classical protein therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or ion channel. ATP1B3-AS1 should not be confused with the protein-coding gene ATPase Na+/K+ transporting subunit beta 3 (ATP1B3).
