ATP8B1 antisense RNA 1 (ATP8B1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene, meaning it is transcribed into RNA but not translated into a protein[7]. It is affiliated with the lncRNA class, characterized by large, non-coding transcripts involved in regulation of gene expression. ATP8B1-AS1 is genomically adjacent to the ATP8B1 gene, which encodes an aminophospholipid transporter linked to hepatic diseases, but the functional role and molecular mechanisms of ATP8B1-AS1 itself remain largely uncharacterized. There is reported association between ATP8B1-AS1 and cholestasis disease states, but ATP8B1-AS1 is not established as a therapeutic target or druggable receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor[7]. No interacting drugs, mechanisms of action, or specific biomarker applications have been documented in current sources.
