Overview

Atrial natriuretic peptide receptor 2 (NPR2), also known as natriuretic peptide receptor B (NPR-B) or guanylate cyclase B (GC-B), is a membrane-bound receptor that primarily binds C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP). Upon ligand binding, it catalyzes the conversion of GTP to cGMP, a second messenger involved in skeletal growth regulation and potentially other homeostatic processes. Mutations in the NPR2 gene can lead to skeletal dysplasias.
