“Attention control improvement” is not a molecular target or receptor but rather refers to the enhancement of an individual’s ability to regulate what they focus on and ignore—commonly called attentional or executive attention. This cognitive process is mediated by distributed neural networks in the brain, especially frontal regions like the anterior cingulate cortex and prefrontal cortex. Neurotransmitter systems including norepinephrine from locus coeruleus neurons and acetylcholine play key roles in modulating these networks. While pharmacological agents can improve aspects of attention by acting on these neurotransmitter systems, “attention control” itself is not a discrete biological molecule or protein but an emergent property of complex neural circuit dynamics. Therefore, it cannot be classified as a canonical therapeutic target such as a receptor or enzyme.
