Target intelligence / Profile preview
Atypical protein kinase C iota (PKCι) is a serine/threonine kinase belonging to the atypical PKC family. It plays a role in cell proliferation, differentiation, survival, and apoptosis, and regulates microtubule organization. PKCι is a bona fide human oncogene, required for transformed growth of cancer cells, making it an attractive therapeutic target. Inhibitors targeting its oncogenic signaling are under clinical investigation for cancers such as lung cancer.
