Aurora kinase A (AURKA), also known as serine/threonine-protein kinase 6, is a member of the Aurora kinase family, which are serine/threonine kinases essential for cell proliferation and mitosis. Aurora kinase A plays a critical role in centrosome maturation and separation, spindle assembly, and stability during cell division. Overexpression or amplification of Aurora-A has been observed in various human cancers, making it a target for anti-cancer drug development. Inhibition of this enzyme has shown promise for cancer therapy.
