Tumor antigen-presenting dendritic cells (DCs), particularly when autologous, are a form of personalized immunotherapy in which a patient's own dendritic cells are harvested, loaded ex vivo with antigens derived from their own tumor, and then reintroduced to stimulate an anti-tumor immune response. These DCs act as professional antigen-presenting cells that process and present tumor-associated antigens to T-cells, thereby initiating and directing adaptive immune responses against cancer.
