This process involves activation by antigens via the B cell receptor (BCR), often with T cell help through cytokines like IL-4, IL-21, and CD40L interactions, leading to proliferation, class-switch recombination, and somatic hypermutation in germinal centers. Key factors include B cell growth factors (BCGFs, such as BCGF I/IL-4) that drive cell cycle progression and B cell differentiation factors (BCDFs) that promote maturation to immunoglobulin-secreting cells.
