B double prime 1 pseudogene (BDP1P) is a nonfunctional DNA sequence derived from the BDP1 gene, which is a regulator of RNA polymerase III transcription in its canonical form. BDP1P, like other pseudogenes, is not transcribed or translated into a functional protein, and is categorized as genetically inert, although some pseudogenes elsewhere in the genome may exert regulatory effects via noncoding RNAs. There is no evidence for such roles for BDP1P. Its main use is in genomic studies of evolutionary processes and gene annotation[1][4][5][6][8].
