B-lymphocyte cell adhesion molecule, known as CD22, is a B lineage-specific cell surface glycoprotein encoded by the human CD22 gene, with a molecular weight of approximately 95 kDa and 847 amino acids. It functions in B cell adhesion to other cells, including interactions with CD45RO on T cells and CD75 (alpha 2-6 sialyltransferase) on B cells, and regulates B cell antigen receptor signaling. CD22 is directly involved in cognate B-T cell interactions and B cell-B cell adhesion processes.
