Overview
B7–1 (CD80) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily and the B7 family of costimulatory molecules. It is primarily expressed on activated dendritic cells, B cells, and macrophages. CD80 plays a crucial role in regulating immune responses by providing costimulatory signals to T cells through interaction with CD28 (activating) and CTLA-4 (inhibitory). It is a therapeutic target for immunomodulatory drugs in cancer immunotherapy and autoimmune disease treatment.
