B7.1, also known as CD80, is a transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the B7 family of immune-regulatory ligands. It plays a critical role in regulating T cell-mediated immune responses by providing co-stimulatory or co-inhibitory signals through its interactions with receptors on lymphocytes. It interacts with CD28 for co-stimulation and CTLA-4 for inhibition of T cell responses, thus acting as an immune checkpoint regulator.
