Target intelligence / Profile preview
BABAM2 antisense RNA 2 (BABAM2-AS2) is an antisense long non-coding RNA transcribed from the DNA strand opposite to the BABAM2 gene locus. Antisense lncRNAs are believed to regulate the expression of their associated protein-coding genes, often by forming RNA-RNA duplexes or recruiting chromatin modifiers in cis[2][3][6][11]. However, there is no direct functional, disease, or therapeutic relevance reported for BABAM2-AS2 specifically, and it has not been validated in peer-reviewed literature or major genomic databases as a distinct entity. The related protein-coding gene, BABAM2, encodes a component of the BRCA1-A and BRISC complexes involved in DNA repair, ubiquitination, apoptosis regulation, and signaling, and has disease roles especially in cancer[1][7][10], but this does not extend to BABAM2-AS2. BABAM2-AS2 is a predicted antisense lncRNA; its existence and function are unverified. It is not considered a druggable or canonical therapeutic target. No aliases, disease associations, drugs, biomarkers, or safety concerns have been described for this RNA. Further research or data curation would be required for structured annotation.
None described, as antisense lncRNAs are not current drug targets.
