Bacterial Enzymes and Membranes represent a broad classification of therapeutic targets essential for the structural integrity, metabolic activity, and virulence of bacterial pathogens [1, 2]. This dual mechanism of action leads to increased membrane permeability, the leakage of essential cellular components, and the cessation of vital biochemical processes, ultimately resulting in bacterial death [6, 8]. These targets are central to the treatment of diverse conditions, including oral diseases like periodontitis and caries, as well as systemic infections caused by both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria [1, 3, 4]. However, the non-specific nature of many membrane-active agents can lead to host cell toxicity, and the broad pressure exerted on these systems necessitates careful therapeutic management to mitigate the risk of antimicrobial resistance [1, 8].
