Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Other

Overview

Basic transcription factor 3 pseudogene 15 (BTF3P15) is a pseudogene in humans and not an active protein-coding gene. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are non-functional due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements. BTF3P15 is designated as a "pseudogene" of the protein-coding basic transcription factor 3 (BTF3) gene, which plays a key role in the initiation of transcription via association with RNA polymerase II. While some pseudogenes can exert regulatory functions through non-coding RNA products, microRNA interaction, or antisense transcripts, there is currently no evidence that BTF3P15 encodes any functional RNA or protein, nor is it implicated in any physiological, pathological, or pharmacological processes.

Mechanism of action

None applicable

03

Biological functions

Currently, no specific biological function ascribed; as a pseudogene, it is generally considered non-coding and non-functionalSome pseudogenes may have regulatory effects at the RNA level, such as competing for microRNA binding, modulating parent gene expression, or producing non-coding RNAs, but no specific data supports BTF3P15 in these roles

Disease associations

Other (no direct established role in disease)

Safety considerations

None reported; not a therapeutic or diagnostic target
