Unlike *BTF3*, which encodes a general transcription factor required for RNA polymerase II-mediated transcriptional initiation and has oncogenic roles in certain cancers[2][4][5][7], BTF3P5 itself is classified as a pseudogene and does not produce a functional protein product[3][6][8]. Pseudogenes such as BTF3P5 may sometimes play regulatory roles at the RNA level (for example, as non-coding RNAs), but there is no evidence that BTF3P5 is a therapeutic target or has defined biological or disease functions. No drugs or mechanisms of action, biomarker utility, or safety concerns have been described for BTF3P5.
