Basic transcription factor 3 pseudogene 8 (BTF3P8) is classified as a pseudogene on human chromosome X and has no known protein product or biological function[9][11][5]. Pseudogenes arise from duplication or retrotransposition events followed by sequence degeneration, and BTF3P8 is one of several BTF3-related pseudogenes found in the human genome[5][9]. Unlike the protein-coding gene BTF3 (basic transcription factor 3), which encodes a general transcription factor involved in transcription initiation, BTF3P8 lacks coding potential and is not involved in transcription, signaling, drug response, disease, or therapeutic pathways[3][5][7][9][11]. BTF3P8 should not be confused with the functional BTF3 gene. There is no evidence that BTF3P8 is expressed as a protein, nor is there any direct involvement in disease, molecular signaling, or as a drug target. Key databases (GeneCards, NCBI, Ensembl) clearly list BTF3P8 as a pseudogene, not a gene encoding a protein or target[9][11][5].
