BCAS1 antisense RNA 1 (BCAS1-AS1) is classified as a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) encoded from a locus antisense to the BCAS1 gene on human chromosome 20 [5]. Its biological functions, disease associations, and therapeutic relevance remain uncharacterized in published literature as of now. There is no direct evidence that BCAS1-AS1 is a disease biomarker, drug target, or has roles in known biological pathways. BCAS1 (the sense gene) is well-studied in cancer and neuroscience, but the antisense transcript BCAS1-AS1 itself is not a known receptor, enzyme, transporter, or directly druggable target, nor is it considered a therapeutic target at present. The record should not be confused with BCAS1 (the protein-coding gene), which has a distinct and active literature.
