Overview

BCDIN3D antisense RNA 1 (BCDIN3D-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene found in humans[1][2][6]. As an *antisense RNA*, it is transcribed from the opposite strand of the BCDIN3D locus and does not code for a protein. BCDIN3D-AS1 belongs to the molecular class of long non-coding RNAs, which can regulate gene expression and other RNA-related processes, but as of current knowledge, its functional characterization and disease relevance remain largely uncharacterized. Some databases annotate an association with 3Mc syndrome, but the molecular and clinical significance is not well defined[1]. No information exists in the current literature indicating that BCDIN3D-AS1 is a direct drug target, disease biomarker, or has documented therapeutic safety issues. BCDIN3D-AS1 should not be confused with *BCDIN3D*, an RNA methyltransferase enzyme that modifies tRNAs and microRNAs, and is studied in the context of cancer and cell invasion. BCDIN3D is a well-characterized enzyme with clear molecular and disease functions[3][5][7][9], but BCDIN3D-AS1 is an unrelated lncRNA and is not considered a canonical target. No reported drugs or small molecules are known to target BCDIN3D-AS1. There is no evidence that BCDIN3D-AS1 is a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor; it is classified under "Other" as a long non-coding RNA.
