BCL2 interacting protein 3 pseudogene 13 (BNIP3P13) is designated in genomic databases as a pseudogene of the BCL2 interacting protein 3 (BNIP3) gene family. Pseudogenes are stretches of DNA that resemble known genes but are generally non-functional, lacking the capacity to encode a functional protein product. There is no current evidence that BNIP3P13 encodes a protein, functions as a receptor, enzyme, or is otherwise a druggable therapeutic target. There is no evidence in major biomedical literature, clinical databases, or drug databases of BNIP3P13 being a target for any known drug, functioning as a biomarker, or being involved in toxicity or efficacy concerns. In summary: BNIP3P13 is best classified as a pseudogene with no established biological, therapeutic, or diagnostic role. The correct, functional target would be BCL2 interacting protein 3 (BNIP3), not the pseudogene BNIP3P13[1][2].
