BCL2 interacting protein like (BNIPL) is a protein encoded by the BNIPL gene in humans. BNIPL interacts physically with several other proteins, notably BCL2, ARHGAP1, MIF, and GFER, and may function as a bridge molecule between BCL2 (a key regulator of apoptosis) and ARHGAP1/CDC42 in promoting cell death[2][5]. The gene expresses multiple isoforms due to alternative splicing. BNIPL's interaction network suggests a role in regulating cellular apoptotic pathways, often implicated in the control of cell fate downstream of mitochondrial signaling. Dysregulation or altered expression of BNIPL has been associated with the development and progression of multiple types of cancer, including hepatocellular carcinoma and colorectal cancer, offering potential diagnostic and prognostic insights[4][5].
