Target intelligence / Profile preview
BCL2-like 12 pseudogene 1 (BCL2L12P1) is a processed pseudogene related to the BCL2 family gene BCL2L12. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but non-functional; they typically arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition but have lost the ability to encode functional protein due to mutations, deletions, or insertions. BCL2L12P1 does not produce a protein and is not involved in apoptosis, disease mechanisms, or therapeutic intervention. Functional roles and disease associations that apply to BCL2L12 do not apply to BCL2L12P1[7][3][2].
