BEGAIN antisense RNA 1 (BEGAIN-AS1)

BEGAIN antisense RNA 1 (BEGAIN-AS1) is a long non-coding antisense RNA gene annotated in the human genome, transcribed from the opposite strand of the BEGAIN gene[6]. As an antisense RNA, BEGAIN-AS1 is considered a non-protein coding RNA. The precise biological and disease role of BEGAIN-AS1 has not been established in the scientific literature or current gene/protein target databases. In general, antisense RNAs function by regulating gene expression at transcriptional, post-transcriptional, or epigenetic levels, but there is no evidence that BEGAIN-AS1 itself directly modulates any particular biological pathway or serves as a therapeutic target[1][2][3][6]. Currently, BEGAIN-AS1 does not fulfill criteria for a canonical therapeutic target such as receptor, enzyme, transporter, or ion channel, and there are no drugs known to interact with it.
