BEND7 divergent transcript (BEND7-DT) is a non-coding RNA produced by divergent transcription from the BEND7 gene locus. Divergent transcription is a widespread genomic phenomenon that typically generates antisense long non-coding RNAs from protein-coding gene promoters and may be involved in fine-tuning gene expression, especially for developmental transcription factors[2][4]. BEND7-DT is not a protein, receptor, or enzyme, and does not have a known role as a drug/therapeutic target[3]. While the function of BEND7-DT is not well characterized, such transcripts sometimes participate in local regulatory effects at chromatin, including transcriptional control, epigenetic boundary formation, or modulation of transcription factor activity[1][2].
