Beta-defensin 130A (DEFB130A) is a cysteine-rich, cationic antimicrobial peptide important in innate immunity and host defense against microorganisms, including bacteria and parasites. It is a member of the beta-defensin family, found primarily at mucosal surfaces and in some immune cells, and functions by disrupting negatively charged microbial membranes, leading to cell lysis.
