Sialyltransferase CD75/ST6GAL1 is an α2–6-sialylating enzyme crucial for modifying glycoconjugates involved in immune regulation. Its expression pattern makes it valuable both biologically—in modulating immunity—and clinically—as a diagnostic marker especially relevant to hematopathology. It catalyzes the transfer of sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to galactose-containing substrates, specifically forming α2,6 linkages on glycoproteins and glycolipids.
