Beta-glucosidase A

Molecular classification
Enzyme, Glycoside hydrolase
01

Overview

Beta-glucosidase A (EC 3.2.1.21) is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of terminal, non-reducing β-D-glucosyl residues in glycosides, releasing β-D-glucose. It plays roles in glycolipid and glycoside metabolism in animals, plant defense mechanisms, cell wall lignification, and biomass conversion in microorganisms.
