Target intelligence / Profile preview
Beta-lactamase OXA-10 is a class D β-lactamase enzyme found in Gram-negative bacteria. It hydrolyzes β-lactam antibiotics, conferring resistance. Its activity is primarily against penicillins and narrow-spectrum cephalosporins, with weaker activity against carbapenems unless combined with other resistance mechanisms. The gene encoding OXA-10 is often plasmid-borne and subject to mutation, leading to extended-spectrum variants.
Hydrolyzes the β-lactam ring of antibiotics, rendering them ineffective.
