Overview

Beta-taxilin (TXLNB) is a protein encoded by the human TXLNB gene and is chiefly known as a centrosomal adapter that bridges centrosome dynamics with the ubiquitin-proteasome system, particularly in cardiomyocytes (heart muscle cells)[1][2]. It plays a pivotal role in cardiac proteostasis, promoting proper disposal of damaged or misfolded proteins via the proteasome, and its deficiency leads to accumulation of ubiquitinated proteins and susceptibility to cardiac stress[1][2]. This protein also participates in intracellular vesicle trafficking and is suggested to bind syntaxins[4][5]. Its unique location and function make it a key regulator of cytoskeletal structure and protein quality control but not a direct target for therapeutic drugs at present[1][2][4].
