Overview

BHLHE22 antisense RNA 1 (BHLHE22-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed antisense to the BHLHE22 gene[4][6]. Like other antisense lncRNAs, it may regulate the expression or function of its sense gene (BHLHE22) via RNA-RNA interactions, recruitment of chromatin-modifying proteins, and modulation of epigenetic or transcriptional landscapes[2]. While specific biological, clinical, or disease-oriented studies directly addressing BHLHE22-AS1 are currently lacking in major databases[4][6], general research on antisense lncRNAs demonstrates their potential oncogenic or tumor-suppressive functions by influencing cancer cell proliferation, migration, or therapy response in other gene contexts[2]. There is presently no evidence that BHLHE22-AS1 functions as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or therapeutic target, nor is there direct evidence for roles in disease, interacting drugs, or use as a biomarker[4][6]. If additional research emerges, further characterization may become possible, especially regarding cancer, where lncRNAs are often implicated.
