Overview

BICRA antisense RNA 1 is a long non-coding RNA gene (lncRNA), annotated in multiple genomic databases and classified as a natural antisense transcript (NAT)[3]. Its alternate name is GLTSCR1-AS1[1][3]. Like other antisense lncRNAs, it is thought to modulate the expression of nearby or overlapping protein-coding genes—here, BICRA—by mechanisms that may include chromatin remodeling, transcriptional interference, and regulation of RNA stability[2][4]. While antisense lncRNAs as a class play roles in development, cell cycle, and various diseases such as cancer, no direct functional, disease, or drug-related data exists for BICRA-AS1 itself in the current literature. The molecule is not considered a classic therapeutic target, such as a receptor or enzyme, and there are no known interacting drugs, disease associations, or biomarker applications at this time[1][3][4].
