Blood Coagulation Factor Inhibitor

Blood coagulation factor inhibitors are substances—most commonly antibodies—that neutralize specific clotting proteins (coagulation factors), thereby interfering with the normal blood clotting process. These inhibitors can be endogenous (produced by the body) or exogenous (introduced as drugs or therapeutic agents). The most common naturally occurring inhibitors are autoantibodies that develop against factor VIII or IX, especially in patients with hemophilia A or B who receive replacement therapy. Some drugs act intentionally as blood coagulation factor inhibitors.

Neutralizes specific blood-clotting proteins/factors, thereby interfering with the normal blood clotting process.
